APPLY FOR A PERMIT
Work Permit in Singapore
A Work Permit in Singapore is designed for low-skilled foreign workers in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, marine, and services. It allows employers to hire foreign workers who do not possess the high qualifications required for other types of work passes.

The application process
Job Offer
The employer must ensure that the foreign worker meets the criteria set by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), which includes having a valid job offer in an eligible sector and meeting the minimum salary and accommodation standards.
Submit Application
The employer must submit the Work Permit application online via MOM’s portal. This includes details about the worker, the job, and necessary supporting documents such as the worker’s identification, qualifications, and employment history.
Quota & Levy
Employers must also comply with sector-specific quotas and levy requirements. They need to ensure they are within the allowable number of Work Permit holders for their sector and pay the applicable levy.
Processing Time
MOM would then review the application, which typically takes a few weeks.
Approval
If approved, the Work Permit is issued, and the worker can start their employment in Singapore. The permit is generally valid for up to 2 years and can be renewed.
Check Eligibility
- For Employers: Ensure that your company meets the quota and levy requirements for hiring foreign workers
- For Workers: Confirm that the worker is from an approved source country and meets the age, skills, and educational requirements specific to the industry
