EMPLOYMENT LAW: MOBBING / SEXUAL HARASSMENT
Mobbing / Sexual Harrasment in the workplace
A healthy work environment: a key to success for any business.
When troublemakers adopt detrimental behavior threatening a good working atmosphere and the employee’s self esteem, some actions can and should be taken in order to reestablish them under personhood law (ie. a field of law that specifically protects a person’s physical and psychological integrity, privacy, reputation and health).

Workplace Harassment and Bullying in Singapore
Singapore places a strong emphasis on creating a safe and conducive work environment. Acts of harassment and bullying are strictly prohibited.
Types of Workplace Harassment
Sexual harassment: Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
Racial harassment: Discriminatory behavior based on race, color, descent, or nationality.
Religious harassment: Discriminatory behavior based on religious beliefs.
Bullying: Repeated and unreasonable behavior directed towards an individual or group, creating a risk to health and safety.
Legal Protection
The Tripartite Alliance for Fair Employment Practices (TAFEP) is the statutory body responsible for promoting workplace fairness.
The Employment Act provides some protection against harassment, but its scope is limited.
Common Law: Provides additional legal recourse for victims of harassment.
Employer Obligations
Employers have a duty to provide a safe and harassment-free workplace. They must establish clear anti-harassment policies and procedures, as well as provide training to employees on recognizing and preventing harassment.
Employee Rights
On the other hand, employees have the right to work in a respectful and dignified environment. They can report incidents of harassment without fear of reprisal and have access to support and counselling services.
